What's New Wednesday: Hello, Cupcake!

It's been awhile since a new birthday collection has emerged on the market, so today I'm happy to introduce to you a brand new line from Imaginisce...
 

Cupcakes have been all the rage for awhile as one of many universal symbols for birthdays and celebrations of all kinds! With Hello Cupcake, Imaginisce has taken that celebration spirit and turned it into a gender neutral, fun-filled paper collection sprinkled with coordinating die-cuts, stickers and miniature clear stamps!

    Birthday collections can be a lot of fun--the papercrafting possibilities are endless! You can make custom invitations and favors, party decor and gift wrap... check it out!

Not to mention the after-party re-cap layouts where you can pull together your photos and mementos, highlighting them among these brightly colored patterns and forever documenting those special moments!

All of the patterned papers in this collection have been treated with UV accents, so they've got a little extra shimmer and sparkle.  Plus, the printed canvas stickers and the layered "sticker stackers" add both texture and dimension to your pages & projects!

What's New Wednesday: Echo Park

Whew! Busy day in the warehouse today! New We R Memory Keepers, New Bo Bunny and three new lines from Echo Park! And those three lines are what I have to share with you today... brace yourselves!

     

The new "Paradise Beach" collection really needs no explanation. It's surf. It's sun. And it's sand. When you put the three together, you get a summer-themed paper line that encapsulates your days spent at the beach!

This next line, "Enjoy the Ride" is another mini collection from Echo Park.  It includes three double-sided patterned papers, coordinating stickers and for the road tripping enthusiast--a collection pack with a little bit of everything!

    
  

Where the Paradise Beach collection was bold, vibrant and hot, hot, hot--"Sweet Day" is more soft, subtle and well... sweet. You'll find patterns designed to mimic the soft linens of your favorite family quilt and hot air balloons, cupcakes and sweet images reminiscent of Summer.

Paper lines were packed up today and they'll be headed to Scrapbook Studio near you with their afternoon delivery tomorrow! It's just like Christmas...*sigh*

Mister Misty

So remember how a month or two or so ago, I talked about word associations and how certain things remind of us specific memories or different songs? Well, I dare say it's happened again... oh to the vey.

But bear with me a moment... I'm about to wax nostalgic...

So when I was a kid, we had this Dairy Queen. It was maybe 1 of 2 different fast-food places in town--you know, a mile or so down the road from the ONE traffic light we had. It actually burned down when I was little and we ended up with a Hardee's instead, but I suppose that's beside the point. Anyhoo...

Going to the DQ was a real treat... umm, literally. But we went often enough that I clearly remember this rotating neon sign they had on the slushie machine. One side read "Misty". The other side read "Mr. Misty". So as I'd sit there savoring my cone, dreaming of the day I'd be allowed to have one of those fabulously sugar-laden drinks (you know, as opposed to my already sugar-laden vanilla cone) I'd watch the sign over and over. Misty... Mr. Misty.

And it's really the stupidest thing to remember and even as I'm typing this I'm trying to figure out what it was about that silly rotating sign that kept me so entranced as a kid. But alas... I've got nothin' but fond recollections of days gone by--slushie or no slushie.

In fact, I'd long since forgotten about Mr. Mister Misty until we introduced the Studio Calico Mister Huey collection to stores here recently. Ahh... the things in life that give cause for that "switch" in the recollection center of our brains to remember such odd and totally random things!
So as fun as it was for me to relate the Little Yellow Bicycle "Saturdays" collection to a Chicago song enough so that I can't see any part of that collection without singing the tune in the back of my head... this little word/memory association of mine is even MORE fun. 'Cause now we've got these really cool spray inks to play around with!

And dare I say... every time I spray, I'm thinking "Misty!" (spritz)... "MISTER Misty!" (spritz, spritz.)

And now you know...
The writer of this blog has gone a little nutso.

Nevertheless, I'm proud to say that in spite of my random blog blatherings and the things I may--or may not--say to myself while scrappin'... Cord Scrapbook Studio now proudly carries the Mister Huey's brand of Studio Calico inks in a variety of basic and limited edition colors!

And I've got a few to give away!! (For those of you who've made it all the way through this crazy, random post, that is!!)

What's New Wednesday: On the Sunny Side

I've got two new collections to share with you today--both of them from My Mind's Eye! The first is dedicated to my fellow papercrafting enthusiasts as we gear up for the summer scrappin' season in all of its sunshine & glory!

The second collection, I dedicate to all of you sewing enthusiasts out there (and my fellow wannabes) whose creativity extends beyond papers and glue into the realm of needles, thread and fat quarters.

Both collections are fun & trendy. And BOTH collections are in stock now!

Now for the papercrafter-turned-sewing-enthusiast, My Mind's Eye has introduced "Sew Me Sew"--a collection of trendy DIY handbags and totes! Each boxed kit includes a fabric panel, embellishments and complete instructions for creating your very own--handmade--fun & fabulous fabric tote.

And if you're a novice--like me--who's a little nervous about putting something like this together--NO WORRIES. They've released a series of step-by-step videos to help walk you through the process!

What's New Wednesday: Mix & Match

Welcome to this week's installment of "What's [relatively] New Wednesday". In other words, the author of this blog (a.k.a. Yours Truly), is a bit behind...

Long story short, what was once brand-spankin' new in stores is now a couple of weeks old on the shelves but still new in our hearts. And today, I'm choosing to go ahead and bloggaboudit because it's really pretty darn cool and you know, the enabler in me just wouldn't want you to miss out!

By now you've all probably heard of Simple Stories and/or seen their product lines in stores, right? So you know they're all about "gettin' er done". Simplify your memory-keeping without cutting back on your story. And their product lines do just that, with cut-able elements and pieces and parts that work fabulously with divided page protectors to give you the flexibility you need to get more scrapped without sacrificing your artsy side.

Well... Simple Stories came out with this new "Mix & Match" system...

So now you can scrapbook using their system--IN MINI ALBUM FORMAT.
It's ingenius, really. Heavy-duty 6x8 binder, divided page protectors, insert pages you can add in that coordinate with each of their collections... FUN.

And naturally... the page protector designs available coordinate beautifully with their cut-able signature element papers, making your job all the easier when it comes to assembling your story.

If you're one of those people who LOVE the idea of mini albums for smaller, themed projects, but until now have been intimidated by them... well, here's your cue. Step One: Print Photos. Step Two: Cut apart coordinating page elements. Step Three: Fill in all the pockets. Step Four: Enjoy. Really, it's THAT simple!

The "This & That" 6x8 insert pages come with each of the newer Simple Stories lines, including Awesome, Documented, Fabulous and the upcoming new release--Summer Fresh. In each pack, you get 8 double-sided pages you can embellish and slide right into your album--page protector or not.

And what's really cool about the 6x8 size of a project like this is that you can print your photos 6x8 and have some full size images scattered throughout your album for a little extra umph! (In our world, 6x8 is sooo the new 5x7.)

 
Now, on top of all of that Mix & Match mini album goodness, they've also added memorabilia pockets to the lineup. Add them to the front of your page protectors to create interactive elements or use them for memorabilia storage, uniqe cards or as unique page design elements. The colors are very neutral, so they'll coordinate with most Simple Stories collections to date.

So I hope you don't mind the belated sharing of such a new concept; a new collection. Now that you know a little more about the system in general, your creative wheels will start turning the next time you spot these items in the store, I'm sure of it! Just imagine the possibilities!

What's New Wednesday: Basic Grey

Two new Basic Grey lines arrived in stores this week--PB & J and What's Up. Though uniquely different from any other collection I've seen from BG, they hold the same quality standards and offer the same basic staples as any of the others! Let's take a look...

 
  
  

 
Both collections include a variety of double-sided, heavyweight patterned papers, coordinating cardstock stickers and unique embellishments like toothpick flags, layered felt stickers, metal flowers and more!

  
  

 
So now that you've seen a couple of collection snippets... how 'bout a lil' sneak peek? It just so happens that What's Up and PB & J are the two featured collections for the Page of the Month classes in May and June!! Since we don't usually post the project until the month before the class date, I figured you'd enjoy seeing things a little SOONER...

What's New Wednesday: Down the Boardwalk

Sometimes a beachy collection comes along that just kind of transports you to the coastline--right from the comfort of your chair. For me, this is one of those collections with its muted beachy colors and fun, beachy papers and accents.

It's like... one minute, I'm sitting here in my sweater with my space heater not too far from my feet, reading about how friends and family had--gulp--SNOW yesterday and the next minute I'm walking amidst the waves, enjoying the ocean breeze and relishing the fact that there's sand between my toes. Mind you, it's all in my head of course because I'm still physically sitting here at my desk in a cold Columbus, OH, but... still. I love the beach, so for now the imagery's enough.

  
The new "Down the Boardwalk" collection from We R Memory Keepers arrived in stores earlier this week. You'll find a variety of double-sided patterned papers and coordinating textured cardstock, embossed die-cut tags & frames, self-adhesive chipboard elements and metallic accents, with some mini clear stamps and coordinating ribbons thrown in for good measure.

Really, you'll find everything you need to highlight the beach vacation of your dreams minus the photos taken on your trip, the album or mini album you choose and the adhesive it takes to put everything all together! I can be that simple... I promise.

Now, unfortunately... me and my beach-imaginin' self won't be headed toward the sandy shores anytime soon. Thankfully, we'll have a couple of Design Team members working with WeRMK's Boardwalk collection so that us "staycationers" can live vicariously through their creative adventures. :-)
Ahhh... isn't scrapbooking grand?

What's New Wednesday: Makin' Waves

As you may have noticed with the arrival of Summer Soul and Wave Searcher from Fancy Pants last week, the summer themed, beachy collections have begun pouring in to a Scrapbook Studio near you! And tomorrow marks the arrival of yet another new line, hitting stores with their deliveries mid-late afternoon... Makin' Waves from Imaginisce.

And the timing couldn't be more perfect, with Spring Break well underway in a lot of districts, don'tcha think? I mean, if ever there were a time to don that pink polka-dot bikini, it's now!

  
   
You'll find double-sided patterned papers, coordinating stickers, die-cuts and clear miniature stamps. Everything you need to capture your vacation-on-the-beach memories!

KONNICHIWA!
Or... in English... HOWDY!

I'm back again with two MORE collections new in stores this week--Basic Grey's Konnichiwa and Plumeria collections arrived in house while we were off working having fun at the Memories Expo! Woot! Woot! 
  
These two lines are actually the first of FOUR new collections announced back in January at the CHA Winter Show. Konnichiwa is different than any other collection I've seen with it's unique color palette and Japanese "flavor". But don't let the cherry blossoms and bonzai trees throw you--the patterned papers and accents in this line can be quite versatile combined with the right photos and a clearly open mind! 

 
  
Sometimes it's fun--albeit a challenge--to be faced with a collection that forces you to think outside the box--like with the layout by Kelly Goree above using the Plumeria collection. After all, who'da thunk you could use floral prints and purple tones with photos of a boy? I'm glad there are no rules in scrapbooking! That the papercrafting art in and of itself is about reflecting YOUR tastes, YOUR flavor--whatever that may be! 

And guess what else... we've assigned these collections to four of our Design Team members for the upcoming months. I'm kinda anxious to see what they come up with and how they apply a little out-of-the-box thinking to their creative endeavors! Think we'll learn something? I know I will!
And I can't wait!

What's New Wednesday: Let's hear it for SPRING BREAK!

Ok, so... how many of you are counting down the days until Spring Break? Headed south for a little sand and sunshine? Have you packed your beach bag and your flip-flops? Scoped out the surfboard rentals?

 
Well, two of the exciting new arrivals in stores this week are the Wave Searcher and Summer Soul collections from Fancy Pants. They're Spring Break-ready, full of summer sunshine and packed with the bright colors and seasonal hues that shout IT'S TIME FOR A VACATION!!

I don't know about you all, but I'm certainly ready for Summer--especially now that all of these beachy-fun collections are starting to arrive! These two lines are just the beginning of all there is to look forward to in the papercrafting world--just wait and see!

With the two collections above, you'll not only find a variety of double-sided patterned papers, but coordinating chipboard accents, rubons, stickers and buttons as well. And if that's enough to make you want to don those flip-flops a little earlier than you normally would, well... let's just say, you wouldn't be the only one!
