Ok, so... you know how sometimes you see, read or hear something and it reminds you of something else entirely? And sometimes the two things are related and other times... eh, not so much. Well...
I was born in the 80's, but I grew up listening to the music of the 70's. In fact, it wasn't unheard of for my parents to find that I'd "borrowed" some of their old vinyl records and cassettes (do people even know what those things are anymore?!), playing them non-stop while I did things like homework and cleaning my room. Some girls had Barbie... I had Three Dog Night.
So anyway... fast forward to last week. The new Saturdays collection from Little Yellow Bicycle arrived and I was back in our warehouse oogling over the new papers and stuff, all the while humming this song. I couldn't think of what it was at the time though... I just had the rhythm down and it was stuck in my head literally all day.
Will someone please tell me I'm not the only one who busts into song at the sight of pretty patterned papers and fun little goodies like these?
So I'm sitting at my desk, here in my cubicle, humming this song and I was in a great mood because I'd just finished packing up supplies to send out to our Design Team and there was new product flying through the doors, ready to head out to stores... and well, let's just say my neighbors here in "cube world" had to have thought I was off my rocker.
But as crazy as it sounds to admit that I spent an entire day singing to myself just because of a new product collection we'd gotten in... I really don't think it's that weird. Music is a huge part of who I am and there are so many songs or bands that take me back to a certain moment in my past or a specific memory. And it really doesn't take much for me to see, read or hear something that makes me think of a song, you know?
So perhaps it's no coincidence that the collection that inspired my rendezvous back to good music & fond memories last week is one inspired by celebrating life and the things that make us happy--time with family, life's journey and Saturdays... in the park.
I know old Chicago songs and new scrapbooking product lines have nothing to do with each other, but for me I guess they're all kinda related with feeling happy and carefree and creative. And if you're a closet-singer like me who can't help but go a little over the edge over the simplest things? Well, then... I guess this blog post was for you. Enjoy life. It's all good.
Hahaha!! I have to laugh because music is a huge part of my life too and I also will break out into song for no apparent reason....even just a single word will do it!
I'll have a duet with you anytime Stephanne!
Love that LYB too by the way.

It does happen. I can't remember what I was singing last night but for some reason one line of a song was stuck in my head. And today Saturday in the Park will be there.
